turbotax. why are there different versions?

Question by Marla T: turbotax. why are there different versions?
i heard about turbotax today and decided to look into it. i am 20 years old and my taxes usually get done by someone my dad knows but it takes until the end of april to get my money back so i was considering getting it done separately by my self this year.

i don’t get why there are different versions and which one i could use. i don’t own a home or anything and i don’t have any kids.

what’s the difference between state and federal taxes? when i get my w2 is that all i need to begin?

Turbo Tax Deluxe – the basics, they just add “deluxe” to make it sound better

Turbo Tax Premier – for investments and rental property owners

Turbo Tax Home & Business – for small business owners

The difference between state and federal tax is just that, if you look at your check, one deduction went to the state, one went to the federal government.

All you’d need for your taxes is Turbo Tax Deluxe

Although, since it seems you probably don’t have any loans to pay off or any deductions for college, basic taxes are really easy to do. I’d suggest looking over the forms first before spending $ 45 for Turbo Tax when you probably won’t get that much back.
