I purchased a house last year. I have always done my own taxes online. Should I hire a professional tax person to do my taxes this year because of the purchase of my home?

No not necessarily, you do need to go long form and it might be beneficial to let a prof. do it this year so you can see the different write offs you may not be aware of.
